SHILLONG, June 5: After a wait of many years, the Superintendent of Police of East Khasi Hills will get a permanent office.
Official sources on Sunday said the PWD (Buildings) is preparing the design of the SP office building near District Transport Office, Lower Lachumiere. Soil testing has been already conducted.
The tender is likely to be floated once the design is completed, the sources said, adding the Home (Police) department has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for the project.
The new SP office will come up at the site of the new office of Commissioner of Excise.
The land of the present SP office at the Secretariat Hill might be used for the construction of a multi-storied parking lot, the sources said.
However, no decision has been made yet, they added.
