SHILLONG, June 7: The Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has elected the ad hoc president of the Sohiong Block Congress Committee (SBCC) over speculations that former Sohiong Congress MLA, HDR Lyngdoh, is set to join the United Democratic Party (UDP).
Talking to reporters, the newly appointed ad hoc president, Badonbor Mawlong, said that he has been tasked with the responsibility to organise the party.
He revealed that a meeting will be convened at Mawmaram on June 25 to deliberate over the steps to strengthen the party.
Mawlong also informed reporters that the party will have to look for an ideal candidate for the constituency.
The former Sohiong Block Congress president, W Thabah, has stated that it is difficult for the leaders to leave the party after being associated with the Congress for over 25 years.
