SHILLONG, June 7: The state Cabinet will meet shortly to discuss the proposal for establishment of a National Law College in the state, Law Minister James PK Sangma said on Tuesday.
“The proposal for the National Law College has already taken shape in the form of a memo which will be tabled before the Cabinet very soon. We are hopeful that we will be able to do it in a very short time,” Sangma said.
Asked if any site has been identified for the proposed college, he said, “There are several proposals and we have to zero in on one. Location will not be a problem.”
It may be recalled that the state government had signed an agreement with Bengaluru-based National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in April for setting up a fellowship.
The PA Sangma Fellowship for Legal and Policy Research will allow students of NLSIU undertake research activities in Meghalaya.
