SHILLONG, June 10: Playing safe, the United Democratic Party on Friday distanced itself from the prediction made by the party’s chief adviser, Bindo M Lanong that the NPP and the UDP will form an alliance and come to power in 2023.
UDP general secretary Jemino Mawthoh said, “The party does not subscribe to the personal view and opinion of Bah Bindo Lanong, which appeared in The Shillong Times dated 10th June, 2022 under the heading ‘Lanong predicts coalition of NPP and UDP’ as the matter was not part of the agenda deliberated upon during the central executive committee meeting held yesterday (Thursday).”
It may be reminded that Lanong had said that if everything remains as it is now in the state, the UDP and NPP will come together to form the government after the 2023 polls.
