Evacuation notices issued to two households affected by landslide

TURA, June 12: Evacuation notices have been issued by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner to two households of Upper Chandmary locality who were affected by the landslide that occurred at around 9 am on Sunday morning.
The families of Annie Winda M Sangma and and Aminith T Sangma, whose residences are located close to the landslide area were asked to move to a safer place for the monsoons and the houses are notified to be safe to be occupied.
The order has been issued as per the Section 34 of The Disaster Management Act, 2005 for the purpose of assisting, protecting or providing relief to the community in response to any threatening disaster situation or disaster.
Meanwhile, the District Urban Planner, Urban Affairs Unit, West Garo Hills distirct, Tura, and the Chief Executive Officer, Tura Municipal Board, have been directed to take measures to see the order is compiled with.
