SHILLONG, June 12: The construction of Raj Bhavan in Tura is under way in full swing and is expected to be inaugurated soon.
Informing this, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “The Raj Bhavan in Tura will be inaugurated very soon. The work is going on in full swing I am hopeful that we should do it at the earliest”.
The foundation stone for a Governor’s House at Danakgre, Tura, in West Garo Hills was laid in August 2010.
The complex will come up on a 28.45-acre land. Besides Governor’s office, the place will house a secretariat, conference hall and VVIP and VIP guesthouses.
Construction is expected to be completed in three years and will serve as the official residence of the Governor whenever he visits West Garo Hills. The idea to have a Governor’s House in West Garo Hills was conceived immediately after the inception of the state to respond to the needs and aspirations of the people of the region.
