Govt conducting drone mapping of city for future projects: CM

SHILLONG, June 14: The state government has started the process of mapping the entire Shillong city with the help of drones.
Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday revealed the same, adding that the process of drone mapping of Shillong will be over within the next quarter.
“We will have micro details of every centimeter and every millimeter of Shillong city with this exercise. We will be able to tell the exact location of every tree or pole. This mapping will help better planning of future projects in the city,” Sangma said while unveiling the map of Dum Dum locality at a function held at St. John’s Whitehall here.
According to the CM, this initiative will allow the state government to handle any situation in the future whenever they occur.
“I feel this is a great initiative taken up by the government,” he said, without divulge the name of the agency conducting the drone mapping.
Earlier, the CM flagged off an ambulance donated to the Dorbar Shnong through the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund scheme 2021-2022.
The function was attended by East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh, Nongthymmai MDC Latiplang Kharkongor, Laitumkhrah-Malki MDC Fantin Joseph Lakadong and former Nongthymmai MLA Jemino Mawthoh.
