SHILLONG, June 17: The Centre will open land ports in areas like Nongjri and Bagli to facilitate export of limestone from Meghalaya to neighbouring Bangladesh.
The assurance was given by Union Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Krishnarao Karad to senior BJP leaders of the state during their meeting in New Delhi.
The minister also responded positively to the state BJP leaders’ demand seeking more funds for the state.
The BJP state leaders also met Union Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda and lamented that the Eklavya Model Residential Schools in Meghalaya were yet to start though the project was being successfully implemented elsewhere in the country.
