NEHU attends 2-day Youth Parl session

SHILLONG, June 20: A delegation from North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) recently attended a two-day session of Indian Youth Parliament in Udaipur.
According to a statement, the session, which was held from June 4, deliberated over issues of national importance.
The NEHU delegation comprised students — H Arundeep Singha, Flavius P Nonglang, Jessica Rymbai, Asha K Lakra and Daia Kharsati — as well as faculty member of Department of Tourism and Hotel Management of NEHU, Dr. Benjamin Lyngdoh.
“The theme was ‘democracy and dialogue’ covering a range of topics such as democracy and poverty, media and democracy, history of Indian democracy, digital democracy, corruption and democracy amongst others,” the statement informed.
Over 200 youth delegates, representing 20 states, were part of the session.
Some prominent delegates who attended the session were West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar,
Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh N Singh, Speaker of Rajasthan Legislative Assembly Dr. CP Joshi, Speaker of Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Passang Dorjee Sona, Former Education Minister of Manipur Thokchom Radheshyam Singh, NEHU Vice Chancellor Prof. PS Shukla, among others.
While Day 1 of the session saw discussion on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, day 2 of the session saw deliberations on various bills in India and on environment.
