Murder convict escapes from Jowai District Jail

Jowai, June 22: A prisoner identified as Shiningstar Pala, escaped from Jowai District Jail at around 2:30 pm today.

Sources informed that the prisoner was convicted in a murder case. He had escaped from the jail earlier also in May, 2017 but was recaptured by Jowai police prompt after he along with three accomplices committed mobile theft from a mobile shop at Ummulong.

It may also be mentioned that in January, 2021 two other convicts escaped after they had been taken to Jowai Civil Hospital, Ialong.  Small Phawa who was convicted under POCSO Act and Kwall Laloo for murder are untraceable till date.
