Amstelveen, June 22: England chased down a target of 245 in only 30.1 overs to seal a 3-0 sweep over the Netherlands in Amstelveen and climb to the top of the World Cup Super League.
Jason Roy and Jos Buttler put together an unbroken 163 for the third wicket in just 20.1 overs, with Roy reaching an 86-ball hundred – his first ODI century since the 2019 World Cup – off the final ball of the 30th over with a boundary. He then smashed the next ball off Tim Pringle for six to seal the win.
Netherlands were in a comfortable position at one point, reaching 203 for 3 with one ball remaining in the 40th over after being asked to bat first.
Buttler ws the stand-in skipper for the injured Eoin Morgan. The hosts, however, lost their last seven wickets for 41 runs and were bundled out with four deliveries remaining.
David Willey was the pick of the English bowlers returning figures of 4 for 36. Scott Edwards got his third half-century of the series while de Leede and Max O’Dowd also scored fifties. (Agencies)
