NONGPOH, June 23: Peeved at frequent power failure in Jirang which has been adversely affecting the public there, particularly the students, local MLA Sosthenes Sohtun has moved Minister in-charge of Power Prestone Tynsong seeking his intervention in the matter.
In a letter to Tynsong, Sohtun said that several issues such as non-operational transformers have led to disruption of electricity for the last few months in various parts of Jirang Constituency which have beleaguered the public.
The Jirang MLA has urged Tynsong, who is also the Deputy Chief Minister, to instruct the concerned engineers to conduct an inspection and repair or replace the non-operational transformers for the greater interest of the public.
The receiver of the letter has responded in the positive, assuring the MLA the point at issue will be looked into.
