SHILLONG, June 23: A staff of the Prisons department was placed under suspension for allegedly helping a convict Shiningstar Pala escape from Jowai district jail on Wednesday afternoon.
IG (Prisons) M Kharkrang on Thursday said departmental proceeding will be drawn up against Anish Swer since preliminary report had found him to be responsible for the convict’s jailbreak.
Pala, who was convicted in a murder case, had escaped from the jail earlier in May 2017 but was recaptured by Jowai police.
