Waste disposal plants at Shillong abattoir on anvil

SHILLONG, June 23: The state government will set up four unsegregated waste disposal plants at Shillong abattoir.
The Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) has already issued a notice inviting bids for engineering, supply, installation, site development and Commissioning of unsegregated waste disposal plant.
Under the initiative, each plant can take care of around one metric tonne of waste per day. According to sources, the project will be implemented on a trial basis.
They also informed that segregation of waste is being practiced in Shillong and around 70 per cent of the city households are practicing segregation of waste.
