GHCA to conduct chess workshop

TURA, June 28: The Garo Hills Chess Association (GHCA) is set to organise a Chess workshop for school children in Tura and Dadengre in July, followed by a school and college level chess tournament.
The decision comes following the association’s general meeting held earlier on June 26.
In a release issued on Tuesday, the association also informed that an inter-office chess tournament will be organised later, as well as a final Fide rated open for all Meghalaya chess tournament, in October to mark the 50th anniversary of Meghalaya’s statehood.
Meanwhile, new office bearers of the association were also elected during the meeting and the body will now be led by Wilseng G Marak as president, Challanga Sangma as vice-president, Francis Sangma as general secretary, Tengrang Sangma as organising secretary, Silberth Ch Marak as treasurer, Hement Ch Marak as accountant and Silkam Sangma as publicity secretary.
New advisers of the association were also elected including West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Swapnil Tembe, Dadenggre SDO Vibhor Agarwal, MPSC secretary Ashish Mankin, West Garo Hills ADC Dolrich Berin Momin and Jesse James Marak.
