SHILLONG/NONGPOH, June 28: Rocky Hek seems to stand firm for the showdown against his uncle AL Hek, who is the five-time Pynthorumkhrah MLA, in the upcoming assembly polls in 2023.
Asserting that he is not going back on his words, the nephew reiterated that he will take the fight to his uncle AL Hek for the Pynthorumkhrah seat.
“I will definitely contest the election,” he said.
Speaking to media persons here on Tuesday, Rocky Hek told them he has started his campaign.
According to him, there is no confirmation from the National People’s Party (NPP) about a ticket but he has every intention to contest under the banner of the NPP.
Asked if he is daunted by veterans like AL Hek and PN Syiem, he said he is going to seek the support of the youth, women and elders in the constituency.
“I know they are tall leaders but we will try our best,” Rocky Hek said, while adding that the NPP will win around 30-32 seats in the next year’s election

More supporters for NPP
As the Assembly elections approach nearer, more supporters have rallied for the National People’s Party (NPP) in Ri-Bhoi.
Several leaders from other political parties and supporters formally joined the NPP during a function in Balakhwa village, Ri-Bhoi on Tuesday.

Ex-MLA to join BJP
Meanwhile, former MLA John Leslee Sangma is going to officially join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) along with his supporters on Wednesday, according to party sources.
