Police confirm four arrests in assault case

SHILLONG, June 29: A day after denying reports of four persons being arrested in connection with the assault of two student interns from Kerala at Jaiaw, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Sylvester Nongtnger said four of the miscreants have been arrested.
“Following their interrogation, their involvement has been confirmed. The district police is on the job to apprehend the rest of the culprits. The four have been produced in court and remanded in police custody for 5 days,” he said.
It may be recalled that on June 24, a group of bikers had assaulted a traffic policeman on being stopped at SD Khongwir junction, Mawlai Iewrynghep for not wearing helmets. On their way back they assaulted a Swiggy delivery boy near Mahari petrol pump, Jaiaw and later headed towards Jaiaw Pdeng where they stopped at ES Restaurant and assaulted the two interns from Kerala.
