3 drug peddlers held; heroin, gun, cash recovered

Shillong, July 5: Meghalaya Police on Tuesday seized 108 grams of heroin, one pistol with four live rounds of ammunition from three drug traffickers including a woman in West Jaintia Hills district, a police official said.
The trio were arrested from Ialong Park in Jowai, the district headquarters of West Jaintia Hills, after their two vehicles were waylaid by sleuths of State’s Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF), Bikram D Marak, the district police chief, said.
Nine soap boxes and one bottle stuffed with heroin, one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine and four live rounds of ammunition, a dagger and cash amounting to Rs 4 lakh besides three mobile phones were seized from the their possession, the police official said.
A gypsy and a local cab bearing registration number ML 05J 3334 and ML 05K 2087 respectively used in transporting the contraband and weapon were also seized.
Marak said the heroin and weapon consignment were brought from Shillong and to be delivered in Jowai. (UNI)
