One held for assault in city

SHILLONG, July 5: Police on Tuesday arrested one Banpyrkhat Lyngdoh Nonglait (32) accused of assault.
Earlier, an FIR was filed with Lumdiengjri Police Station against the accused by the sister of one Leo Dangdonborlang Sun who was allegedly assaulted by Nonglait.
A video of the alleged assault which occurred at Rani Motor’s junction, Jaiaw Langsning, was also circulated on WhatsApp.
Police said that the accused had entered the compound of Sun’s aunt circa 2 pm on July 3 with mala fide intention.
On seeing him trespassing, Sun shouted in a bid to chase him away but a scuffle ensued, which resulted in Sun sustaining grievous injuries.
The accused is being forwarded to court, police said.
