SHILLONG, July 6: Congress MDC from Mawhati Charles Marngar has stressed on the need to maintain proper records of the traditional dances of the various Khasi tribes by the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
Moving a supplement to a question raised by Nongstoin Congress MDC Gabriel Wahlang during the Question Hour, Marngar expressed sorrow over the KHADC yet to maintain proper records of the names of the various traditional dances of various Khasi tribes in Ri-Bhoi and in other districts.
“It is really a disgrace for the Council since we know the names of only a few of the common traditional dances,” Marngar said.
Earlier, replying to a question moved by Wahlang, Executive Member in-charge of Arts and Culture department Victor Rani informed that the Council has the various Himas for providing write-ups and information of various items that will display in the 11 traditional huts at the Khasi Heritage Village at Mawphlang.
