SHILLONG, July 14: Around 25 hi-tech cameras were installed in Sunny Hills here on Thursday at the cost of over Rs 3 lakh. On the day, West Shillong MLA Mohendro Rapsang inaugurated the monitor room of the CCTV camera setup in the locality.
With this set-up, select residents of the locality will be able to view the live feed from the CCTV images on their mobile phones.
Speaking on the occasion, Rapsang said the cameras would help the village authorities in maintaining peace and harmony in the area.
According to the MLA, the idea is to augment more localities in the constituency with CCTV surveillance so as to ensure they are free from anti-social elements.
It is worth mentioning that some areas in West Shillong are prone to issues of drug abuse.
