NABARD celebrates 41st foundation day

SHILLONG, July 14: The 41st foundation day of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) was on Tuesday celebrated here.
Organised by the Meghalaya Regional Office of the NABARD, the programme was attended by Chairman of Meghalaya Farmers’ Empowerment Commission KN Kumar as the chief guest along with the stakeholders of NABARD.
A statement informed that discussion on ‘Challenges in Agriculture Sector in Meghalaya and Way Forward’ was also delivered by Kumar as part of the programme.
Kumar, in his address, spoke at length about the two major challenges in Meghalaya’s agricultural sector, viz. farm mechanisation for hill agriculture and availability of irrigation for Rabi crops.
