SHILLONG, July 14: A five-member team of the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) has submitted the preliminary report to the PWD (Buildings) after auditing the left wing of the under-construction Assembly building at New Shillong Township.
A senior official of the PWD (Buildings) told The Shillong Times on Thursday that the IITG found the structure of the new Assembly building intact. The collapse of the dome did not damage the wing apart from causing minor cracks, he said.
“The team will take some more time to submit its final audit report,” he said, adding that the team has started assessing the dome portion of the building.
The report on the dome is expected to be submitted within two months after a thorough analysis.
The PWD had signed the probe agreement with the IITG to conduct a “non-destructive” test on the safety and stability of the entire building except the dome portion.
