Opposition to electric charging station at MeECL campus

SHILLONG, July 15: The Association of Power Engineers (AOPE) of MeECL has opposed the proposal of the state government to set up an electric charging station at its campus in Lum Jingshai.
Talking to reporters, Association president Arju Dkhar said that state government should identify another location to set up this facility.
“We are not opposing the proposal to set up these electric charging stations. But we would not want that the surrounding of the campus of the MeECL is destroyed,” he said.
He also informed that they will garner support of other associations to oppose the proposal of the government to set up the station at its campus.
The Association president also informed that the state government and the MeECL had recently agreed to identify some land to be handed over to PowerGrid to set up the electric charging station.
