SHILLONG, July 16: Over the course of more than a month now, the daily COVID-19 case count has been gradually rising in the state with 35 new cases of the viral infection being reported on Saturday taking the caseload to 182.
The state has so far registered 94,267 confirmed cases, including 1595 cases of fatality and 92,490 cases of recovery, including 11 that were recorded on Saturday.
The number of active COVID-19 cases increased to 63 in the East Khasi Hills, which includes state capital Shillong with the district accounting for seven new cases of infection besides four cases of recovery from the viral disease on Saturday, according to government data.
On the other hand, West Garo Hills reported 22 new cases with the number of active cases in the district going up to 85, Ri-Bhoi reported three cases with the number of active cases in the district at 18, while South West Garo Hills logged two cases and now has four active cases and West Khasi Hills reported one case taking the caseload to two, as per the data.
Health officials said as many as 15 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals in the state.
Two out of the total 12 districts had no active COVID-19 case as on date.
As of now, neither the state government nor the district administrations have announced any restrictions including wearing of masks.
On the other hand, 32,139 healthcare workers have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 29,511 have been administered with the second dose and 10,064 have taken the third precaution dose, while 97,029 frontline workers have been vaccinated with the first dose, 85,717 have received the second dose and 29,662 have got the precaution shot, even as 13,02,369 persons from among the general public have been inoculated with the first dose, 9,50,420 have been fully vaccinated with the second dose and 10,509 citizens have taken the booster dose across the state till Saturday.
