SHILLONG, July 17: Lone KHNAM legislator Adelbert Nongrum has decided to quit his party and contest the 2023 assembly polls from another party.
Nongrum on Sunday said he was ready for an association with any political party which is in sync with his ideology. Asked, he refused to divulge the name of the party he was contemplating to join.
Some unconfirmed reports say that the North Shillong legislator has been approached by the Congress.
He said the people of his constituency will understand his decision to move away from the KHNAM which is riddled with internal rumblings. “It is because of the love and support of my people that I have managed to win three elections – twice as MDC and once as MLA,” Nongrum added.
