Health dept to review surge in COVID-19 cases

SHILLONG, July 19: Following a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya, the state government has decided to review the situation later this week.
A Health official said the department will meet this week to review the situation and added that the rise in cases was being monitored.
The number of fresh cases witnessed a substantial jump on Tuesday with 74 people testing positive, taking the active tally to 272. As many as 18 people recovered on the day.
West Garo Hills has the highest number of active cases at 140 followed by East Khasi Hills with 76 cases.
42 people have been hospitalised due to COVID-19, official data said.
