Two convicted of sexual assault

SHILLONG, July 22: Two people have been convicted of sexually assaulting minors and have been award punishment as per law.
A statement in this regard informed that an FIR was registered with Laban Police Station in November 2012 against one Betstarling Basan over sexual assault of a minor girl.
On July 7, 2022, the Court of Special Judge (POCSO) found the accused guilty and awarded him imprisonment and fine.
In another case, one Rajingstar Thabah was also convicted by the Court of the Special Judge (POCSO) of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl.
The FIR was lodged at Mawngap Police Station in November 2017.
Thabah has been awarded 18 years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 20,000.
In case of default of fine, Thabah will have to undergo simple imprisonment for another three months.
