DHARAMSHALA, July 24: Himachal Pradesh has made a significant progress in social and economic empowerment of women and become one of the best performing states in gender equality.
A spokesman of the state government told UNI on Sunday that the state government with effective implementation of GBS aims to analyse the differential impact of policies, programmes and schemes implemented for women, besides mainstreaming gender equity and proper funding for their welfare schemes.
He said to give impetus to women empowerment, the state government had made a provision of Gender Budget Statement (GBS) in the annual budget of 2022-23.
He said that the state government is making every effort to ensure gender equity to women facing social discrimination and gender responsive budget has helped in allocation of equitable distribution of resources.
He said that the GBS would also help in bridging the gender gap and providing equal opportunities to women in every field; general budget cells have been created in every department for expenditure of the budget by developing institutional echanisms.
He said that to initiate an integrated approach towards the GBS by every department the state government has been organising workshops and training programmes in collaboration with HIPA and Women and Child Development Department.
He said that through the GBS, the state government would also monitor financial performance and physical deliverables of various departments to assess expenditure made as per plan. (UNI)
