MAWKYRWAT, July 24: People of the state are now looking up to the United Democratic Party (UDP) with hopes that it will lead a government in Meghalaya after the 2023 assembly polls, according to party MLA from Ranikor, Pius Marwein.
Marwein was addressing a meeting in Mawkyrwat on Saturday.
In his address, the Ranikor MLA said that the UDP is getting stronger each day in every constituency in the Khasi-Jaintia Hills areas visited by him, especially with the joining of supporters from other parties and with people trusting the party.
Talking about Garo Hills, the MLA claimed that the UDP will also come out with flying colours in region as it has been able to reach even the grassroots.
In view of the Congress’ apparent wipe-out and the ‘inability’ of the BJP to get the support of public outside of Shillong, the Ranikor MLA said the UDP has a good chance of winning majority of the seats in the 2023 elections and lead the government.
On the day, Marwein, who is also the president of the UDP South West Khasi Hills District, approved the new office-bearers of the UDP Mawkyrwat Circle, UDP Youth Wing Mawkyrwat Circle and UDP Women’s Wing Mawkyrwat Circle.
