Ri-Bhoi road mishap leaves 1 dead, 2 hurt

NONGPOH, Aug 1: One person succumbed to his injuries while two others sustained injuries in a road mishap on NH-6 at Pahammawlein Narang, Ri-Bhoi.
According to sources, an autorickshaw (ML10B3474), which was plying on the wrong lane of the highway, was badly damaged after it was hit by a speeding vehicle (ML10C5786) driven by one Sartaj Ansari (19).
The driver of the autorickshaw, identified as Julius Nongsiej (28), along with two occupants, Bijoy Makri and Silbanus Lapang, sustained grievous injuries, and were immediately rushed to Nongpoh Civil Hospital.
Whilst the occupants survived the accident, the autorickshaw driver, however, succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle Sartaj Ansari is, however, said to be fine except the vehicular damages.
