NONGPOH, Aug 4: Operations at the toll plaza in 20 Mer Pahammawlein in Ri-Bhoi were on Thursday momentarily stopped after Confederation of Ri Bhoi People (CORP), United Hynniewtrep Movement (UHM) and Meghalaya People Social Organisation (MPSO) reached the location demanding the termination of the manager.
The matter was, however, brought under control following the swift arrival of magistrate and police, who have assured the organisations of talks with the manager of the toll plaza for amicable solutions to the issues.
It may be mentioned that these organisations had earlier demanded the removal of the manager following complaints of the latter’s alleged rude behavior will Khasi employees at the toll plaza.
There were also allegations against the manager of terminating the services of the Khasi employees and not cooperating with the village authority of 20 Mer Pahammawlein.
With the demands unmet, the organisations on Thursday visited the toll plaza and briefly stopped collection of taxes.
