SHILLONG, Aug 4: Casting aspersions on the NEHU authorities over the unresolved grievances of the casual employees and alleged imposition of wage cuts on the latter, KHNAM MLA Adelbert Nongrum has demanded immediate regularisation of the services of casual employees and release of their full salaries.
“This is a classic case where the employers are trying to dictate terms on the employees who are fighting for their job and wage security. It is sad that the Vice Chancellor of NEHU has tried to toss the legitimate demand of the casual employees for regularisation of their services,” Nongrum said here on Thursday.
He alleged that instead of resolving the matter by holding discussions, the VC and his close aide are engaged in blaming the casual workers and forcing wage cuts on them.
Nongrum maintained that imposition of wage cuts on the casual workers is unacceptable as they are resorting to demonstrations just to air their grievances before the NEHU authorities.
Arguing that such attitude towards casual workers by the NEHU VC is uncalled for, Nongrum demanded immediate regularisation of the services of all casual employees of NEHU and release of full salary without cuts.
