ANTF arrests 32 men, 5 women in city drug bust

SHILLONG, Aug 9: A total of 37 people were on Tuesday arrested and huge quantity of contraband items was confiscated by the Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) during a raid at Polo, Shillong.
Out of the arrest persons, 32 were men while five were women.
According to police, the ANTF conduct a raid at Polo Bazar on Tuesday, and seized 105 vials of heroin weighing 8.97 grams, 286.93 grams of cannabis, 20 Nitrazepam tablets, 330 empty vials, 10 syringes, three empty Golden Tobacco containers, six mobile phones, one scooty, two local taxis and Rs 1,49,280 in cash. One female and five male drug peddlers were also arrested during the raid.
A total of 27 contraband users, who came to purchase drugs, and four women who caused obstruction to the police during the raid, were also apprehended.
One of the arrested contraband users is an accused in a case, who on August 6 escaped from the COVID-19 ward of the Shillong Civil Hospital.
