Association raises MeECL pensioners’ woes

SHILLONG, Aug 18: The MeECL Pensioners Association has petitioned the Chairma-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Meghalya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) apprising him about how no effort has been allegedly made on the part of the management to clear the terminal benefits of the pensioners and family pension holders.
In the petition, the general secretary of the Association said that meetings after meetings with the government and management have borne no positive result.
As many as 682 persons are yet to receive their leave encashment benefits since July 2016, according to the general secretary, and 630 others who are yet to receive death-cum-retirement gratuity including arrears since August 2017.
