Congress members desert party to join UDP

TURA, Aug 20: Dealing yet another blow to the Congress, almost an entire youth wing of the party on Saturday jumped ship to the United Democratic Party (UDP) in Dalu constituency under West Garo Hills.
Informing about the development, UDP youth wing vice president Anand Marak, along with other UDP leaders of the region, welcomed the Congress members while also setting up the Dalu Youth Wing circle for the constituency.
“We are extremely happy with them coming over to our party and are certain that their work will help the party grow further in Dalu,” said Marak.
Meanwhile, the UDP announced Avi Ch Momin as the party youth president for the circle with Johnystone Sangma as general secretary.
The party also announced Ishak Momin as vice president, Warpol Marak as joint secretary, Watme Marak as women secretary, Ananya Sangma as women’s joint secretary and Borthoromeo Sangma as organising secretary.
They will be further assisted by 23 executive members.
