SHILLONG, Aug 22: The results of the recruitment to different posts in North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) have been submitted to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare for ratification.
The timely submission of recruitment results assumes significance as several doctors have reportedly wanted to leave the institute to join the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Guwahati.
NEIGRIHMS Director Nalin Mehta on Monday said that interviews to various posts have been conducted and the results have been submitted to the Centre.
“The results are expected to be out soon and once the Health Ministry ratifies it, we will issue the appointments,” the Director said.
It is learnt that there are some vacant posts in some departments of NEIGRIHMS and the institute is likely to issue advertisements to the posts soon.
It is learnt that around two to three doctors had earlier left the institute, albeit work was not affected.
Earlier, several doctors, who wanted to shift base from NEIGRIHMS to AIIMS Guwahati, had applied for the ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the Institute but the then Director DM Thappa had rejected their applications.
The premiere institute, since the beginning, has always faced manpower challenges and the pressure on the institute has only increased as patients from different states of the Northeast come to the institute for treatment.
