TURA, Aug 23: The Congress on Tuesday refuted United Democratic Party’s claims of the former’s youth party members abandoning camp to join the UDP in Dalu constituency, West Garo Hills (WGH).
Earlier, the UDP had claimed that most of the members of the youth wing of Congress from the constituency had jumped ship to join them.
Terming UDP’s claim as fabricated and false, the Congress asserted that the party is still alive and thriving in Dalu.
“We don’t have a clue as to who deserted the party as their names didn’t appear. They are not even registered with us,” stated general secretary of the Dalu Assembly Youth Congress, Wellsion Marak.
The party added that the UDP was following a trail of false propaganda and mudslinging as elections were on the horizon.
“Dalu is the home turf of the Congress party and, under the able leadership of MPCC and MPYC leaders, is growing on a daily basis. Instead of maligning the Congress, they must focus on the grassroots since their presence is very doubtful in Dalu,” the Congress said.
