NIA names 4 HNLC cadres in charge sheet

SHILLONG, Sep 6: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday filed a charge sheet in the NIA Special Court, Shillong against four cadres of the outlawed Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) in connection with an explosion that took place behind the staff quarters of Star Cement Factory Colony Lane at Lumshnong, East Jaintia Hills, on December 12, 2020.
The case was initially registered as FIR No. 130(12)/2020 dated December 13, 2020 at Lumshnong police station, and re-registered by NIA on March 15, 2021.
A NIA press release said that investigation has revealed that the explosion was carried out by HNLC terrorists as the owner of the Star Cement Ltd did not pay illegal tax as demanded by Marius Rynjah @ Hep Koit, the self-styled finance cum socio cultural secretary of the HNLC.
The charge sheet has named four HNLC cadres – Emmanuel Suchen @ Shwa; chairman cum commander-in-chief Bobby Marwein @Regan Marwein @ Wanbor Khardewsaw; Sainkupar Nongtraw @ Deng Deng @ Wadborlang Nongrum @ Wadkupar Nongrum and Marius Rynjah.
Further investigations in the case are in progress, the NIA said.
