Possible exit of NEIGRIHMS docs concerns Synjuk

SHILLONG, Sep 7: The Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) has expressed concern over the reports of doctors of NEIGRIHMS wanting to leave the institute to join AIIMS Guwahati.
Talking to reporters after meeting Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, SNSBH general secretary RL Blah said that the functioning of the only super-specialty medical institute in Meghalaya will be affected if the doctors abandon NEIGRIHMS for AIIMS Guwahati.
Blah also informed that they had earlier called on NEIGRIHMS director Prof (Dr) Nalin Mehta over matter only to discern that the doctors are opting for AIIMS due to better career opportunities.
According to NEIGRIHMS Director, around 15 out of the 20 doctors who are planning to leave the institute have agreed to stay till infrastructure of AIIMS Guwahati is fully completed, he said.
He also informed that they have submitted a memorandum to the chief minister, seeking the latter’s intervention.
