SHILLONG, Sep 12: The lone Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) legislator from Gambegre Saleng Sangma on Monday used an expletive to vent his anger against a section of people for declaring that he is not doing anything for his constituency.
Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh said that the word used by the NCP MLA would be expunged from the proceedings of the House.
Participating in the short duration discussion on the second day of the budget session, Sangma mentioned that there are several roads which have been sanctioned, particularly in constituency.
According to him, a road in Gambegre, which was sanctioned under PMGSY to a contractor three years ago, remains in pathetic condition. “People know nothing about this and yet they are politicising that I am not doing anything,” the NCP MLA said.
He demanded that the contractors who are not fulfilling their obligations should be blacklisted, while calling for action pointing out that some contractors are close to ministers and MLAs.
“These people who have little knowledge keep on criticising us without knowing anything. The people do not how much. We have knocked on the doors of the ministers on every proposal which was submitted,” he said, even as he admitted that he is aware the government cannot approve all proposals.
In his reply, Transport Minister Dasakhiatbha Lamare said that the government will examine the suggestion to blacklist the contractors who have failed to implement the work allotted to them.
