SHILLONG, Sep 18: The Trinamool Congress on Sunday asked the state government to stop playing hide-and-seek and to come clean on the reports of the various inquiries that have not been made public yet.
TMC’s George B Lyngdoh recalled that as the Opposition, they have been raising pertinent issues relating to the needs of the people and the way those are being handled by the government. “We have highlighted burning issues like the rice scam, the Saubhagya scam, the smart meter scam and the killing of Cheristerfield Thangkhiew and have been asking the government to make the inquiry reports public.”
He lamented that despite raising concerns, the government has not given any commitment on making the inquiry reports on MeECL and the rice scam public. The government has also failed to explain why they opted for the smart meter programme funded by the Asian Development Bank, he said.
“The MDA seems to be hiding a lot from the people,” he pointed out, adding that the government must adhere to the principles of governance and act in a transparent manner.
