Pregnant woman among 13 hurt in road accident

MAWKYRWAT, Sep 19: A pregnant woman was among 13 occupants of a Sumo bearing registration number ML-05-J-6025 en route to Nongkynbah village from Mawkyrwat in South West Khasi Hills which veered off the road and overturned near Saitsnad Stadium, Mawlangwir, about 2 kilometres from Mawkyrwat.
Speaking to media persons, the injured passengers said the incident took place around 4:30 pm on Monday. They were however unaware about the cause of the incident.
According to the police, all 13 injured occupants were shifted to Mawkyrwat Community Health Centre for treatment immediately after the incident.
Two of the victims including the driver suffered major injuries and were taken to Shillong for better treatment.
The police have inspected the place of occurrence, conducted an investigation and a case has been registered.
