SHILLONG, Sep 23: North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Vice Chancellor Prof. Prabha Shankar Shukla was on Friday conferred with Elite Academic Award 2022 at Global Conference on Computing, Power and Communication Technologies 2022, in New Delhi.
The conference, organised by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), was attended by eminent dignitaries.
The VC, in his address, said that Science and Technology can play a pivotal role in the uplift of a developing country like India. “In the case of development of the rural areas, utilisation, protection and enhancement of natural, physical and human resources are essential to make long-term improvements in the rural living conditions,” he said.
He also said that in India, there are large numbers of technologies available for the effective implementation of the technologies.
“There have been different kinds of technologies such as information and communications technologies, agricultural technologies, refrigeration, television and radio, cooking, healthcare, construction and energy. It is a fact that science and technologies are the main sources for eradication of poverty and enhancing the livelihoods of the rural people,” the VC said.
