SHILLONG, Sep 24: Aadhaar enrolment in Meghalaya has seen some improvement but the numbers are still quite far from 100 per cent enrolment despite several years since the inception of Aadhaar.
Out of the total population of 33.18 lakh (projected 2022), 21.59 lakh Aadhaar enrolments have been assigned, as per UIDAI website, indicating that the saturation percentage stands at 65.09 per cent
Notwithstanding the improvement, the saturation percentage is low in comparison to majority of the states where the percentage is well above 90%.
Meghalaya is only above Nagaland where the saturation point is 60.70 per cent.
In the age group of 0-5 years, Meghalaya is performing quite badly as the saturation point is mere 19.39 per cent, and as per the population, 2.38 lakh (projected 2022), only 46,319 Aadhaar cards have been assigned.
