125th year of Durga Puja celebrations in Harisabha inaugurated

SHILLONG, Sep 25: Members of Sanatan Dharmasabha (Harisabha) Puja Committee, Laban, Shillong, on Sunday, inaugurated 125th year of Durga Puja celebration of Harisabha at a programme on the puja premises commemorating the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya.
The programme started with a welcome song followed by the lighting of lamp, speeches from all guests and a cultural programme.
Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai was the chief guest of the programme while founder Vice-Chancellor, Assam University, Prof. JB Bhattacharjee, was the guest of honour and Chief Justice of High Court of Meghalaya Sanjib Banerjee was the special guest.
Others who were also present include general secretary, Central Puja Committee, Jayanta Lal Das, chief advisor of Harishava RM Shome, chief advisor cultural programme Dr PS Choudhury, besides members of different Durga Puja and Kali Puja committees, senior citizens and residents of Laban, and others.
