SHILLONG, Oct 2: Facing relentless attack from the opposition Trinamool Congress over allegations of scam and irregularities, the National People’s Party (NPP) on Sunday dared the party to either file an FIR or approach the court or the Lokayukta with evidence to back their claim or abstain from trying to score political points.
“Let them go ahead. If they have any proof nobody can stop them but they should not just shout at the top of their voice without any proof,” Rajya Sabha member and NPP state president WR Kharlukhi said on Sunday.
He said this while replying to a question on the Trinamool Congress demanding a court-monitored independent probe into the collapse of the Assembly building dome due to the “illegal connivance” among the NPP-led MDA Government, the contractors and the auditor. “This is nothing but a political gimmick before the elections. Who is stopping you from filing an FIR or going to court or the Lokayukta,” said Kharlukhi.
Stating that the TMC is desperate as they have no issues, he said they are a bunch of Congress defectors who quit their party and joined TMC.
Asserting that the TMC is yet to be tested in the state and the prevailing situation does not look good for them, he said they should focus more on their party.
“Like they say better seeds will get you a better harvest, the TMC should focus on the seeds and not drool over the bountiful harvest of the others as it takes more than just accusing others and pointing fingers to reap a rich harvest,” he added.
