Padma Shri, ex-NEHU prof Temsüla Ao passes away

SHILLONG, Oct 10: Padma Shri and a former professor of English at the North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Prof Temsüla Ao, passed away on Sunday night at Eden Medical Centre in Dimapur, Nagaland.
She was 80.
Awarded with the Padma Shri in 2007, she was a poet, short story writer and ethnographer.
As a professor at NEHU, she taught from 1975.
She served as the Director of North East Zone Cultural Centre between 1992 and 1997 on deputation from NEHU. She also headed the Nagaland Women Commission.
