SHILLONG, Oct 11: The West Khasi Hills District Regional Committee on interstate border will hold its first meeting with the member and stakeholders on October 14.
“We are holding the first meeting with the stakeholders at 11 am on Friday,” Cabinet Minister and Chairperson of the WKH Regional committee Renikton L Tongkhar said on Tuesday.
He said that during the meeting the committee will take the views and opinion of the stakeholders and the members of the committee. The committee will record the concerns and inputs given by the attendees on the border resolution process.
Reminded that a conglomeration of villages falling under Langpih had submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma expressing their desire to remain with Meghalaya, he said, “All the headmen falling under Langpih area have been invited to the meeting.”
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the committee, he said their endeavour would be to adequately address the challenges.
Speaking about the resentment expressed from several quarters in West Khasi Hills on the first phase of the border solving process, Tongkhar said, “I cannot assure you that there will be no resentment. It may not be possible to make everyone 100 per cent happy but we will do the best we can.”
