SHILLONG, Oct 12: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has downplayed the statement of UDP leader Titosstarwell Chyne who remarked that the party, which leads the coalition government, has an advantage compared to parties that support the coalition.
Earlier, Chyne had stated that Rymbui, who represents the party in the NPP-led Meghalaya Democratic Alliance, has not been able to fulfil the demands of the teachers for releasing their salaries since he is not in-charge of the Finance department.
“We have a collective responsibility to serve the people of the state. It is a not case of any individual ministers to resolve matters on its own,” Rymbui said.
Chyne had stated Rymbui can take a decision only on matters pertaining to his own department.
“But he cannot take decision on the department held by other ministers. This is the biggest disadvantage when you are in a coalition government,” Chyne, who is also the president of the UDP East Khasi Hills, stated on Tuesday.
